Fishery management plan implementation initiative

Public meetings were conducted for tautog, scup, black seabass, king mackerel and spanish mackerel. Staff presented information on biology, habitat, fisheries, and coastal management. Further information is provided under the specific species heading below. A review of the blue crab stock assessment developed by the Chesapeake Bay Stock Assessment Committee (CBSAC) was completed and culminated in a day long discussion in December 1996. Concerns from stock assessment scientists remain. The Blue Crab Fishery Management Plan will be completed during the next quarter and shall include recommendations from the CBSAC assessment.
