COURSE DESCRIPTIONThis course develops integrated competencies in critical listening and critical speaking for academic and professional contexts. The learning progression moves from foundational analysis of spoken texts to advanced creation and delivery of original, evidence-based arguments. Emphasis lies on active engagement, metacognitive strategy use, rigorous evidence evaluation, and adaptive communication. Instructional methods include phased skill development, collaborative learning through seminars and debates, and technology-enhanced practice, all designed to foster meaningful and constructive participation in complex dialogues.III. LEARNING OUTCOMESUpon completing this course, learners will be able to:a) Explain theoretical foundations of critical thinking as applied to listening and speaking competencies.b) Apply analytical techniques to reconstruct spoken arguments by identifying claims, evidence, assumptions, and potential biases.c) Distinguish between factual statements, inferences, and judgments within spoken discourse.d) Evaluate argument strength and coherence based on evidence quality and logical soundness.e) Construct clear, concise, and audience-adapted spoken arguments supported by appropriate evidence.f) Integrate critical listening and speaking skills in real-time interactive dialogues such as debates and discussions.g) Create a comprehensive project demonstrating synthesized critical listening and speaking abilities.h) Reflect metacognitively on personal development in critical communication competencies.
