This data collection contains the data sets and R code for Columbian ground squirrels cope with the high thermal variability of montane habitats through behavioral thermoregulation. The data includes (1) hourly climate data from 1992-2023 over the period extending from 15 April to 1 July over the study site, (2) daily mean values of the previous data set, (3) Foraging behaviour obtained from scan-sampling observations, (4) Light sensor data from Mamtag collars (Sextant Technology Ltd., Marton, New Zealand) used in the study, (5) the R-code used in analyses
