This dataset contains the simulated, reanalysis, and observed data used in the study “Canadian Regional Climate Model Performance and Sensitivity Assessment for Hourly Precipitation” (Lahaie et al., 2025, JAMES).
Simulated data include multiple CRCM6-GEM5 configurations differing in resolution (12 km or 2.5 km), microphysics scheme (Sundqvist or P3), land surface model (CLASS or ISBA), deep convection treatment (Kain–Fritsch or explicit), driving data (ERA5 or GEM5-12), and GEM version (5.0.2 or 5.1.1). Reanalysis data are taken from the ERA5 reanalysis, while observed data include versions 6 and 7 from IMERG, and Stage IV radar-gauge analysis over the CONUS.
All data cover a two-years period 2016–2017 and are provided in NetCDF format. All data were regridded to the IMERG 0.1° x 0.1° grid, with Gaussian smoothing applied to vertical velocity and total column water vapour, and precipitation aggregated to hourly frequency where necessary. The spatial domain corresponds to the full CRCM6-GEM5 2.5 km simulation domain (with latitudes north of 60° N removed).
