Photorhabdus luminescens (Enterobacteriaceae) is mutualistic with entomopathogenic Heterorhabditis nematodes and pathogenic to insects. P. luminescens subsp. akhurstii LN2 is a symbiont of H. indica LN2 and shows nematicidal activity against H. bacteriophora H06 nematodes. Thus, we sequenced the genome of LN2 to find genes involved in special functions in pathogenic and symbiotic stages of LN2.
