Contrasting pathways of organic matter dynamics in a pair of mesoscale eddies in the northwestern Pacific Ocean and their implications for carbon sequestration

In this study, we conducted a comprehensive field investigation in the northwestern Pacific Ocean, where a cold-warm pair of mesoscale eddies was identified. By integrating hydrological observations, nutrient distributions, and the multi-parameter characterizations of POM and DOM, we aim to: (1) contrast the composition and spatial distribution of organic matter between cold and warm eddies, and (2) elucidate the distinct physical and biological mechanisms driving their divergent biogeochemical dynamics.
