The World Settlement Footprint 2015 (WSF 2015) is a 10-meter resolution (0.32 arcsecond) binary mask dataset that delineates the global spatial distribution of human settlements in 2015 by jointly processing multi-temporal radar imagery from Sentinel-1 and optical imagery from Landsat 8. The data archive includes 306 GeoTIFF files, which utilize the EPSG:4326 projected coordinate system and deflate compression algorithm. Each file covers a 10°×10° geographic region (approximately 1110×1110 km), with the upper-left and lower-right coordinates of each tile explicitly labeled in its filename. For instance, the file WSF2015_v1_EPSG4326_e010_n60_e020_n50.tif covers the area spanning 10°E to 20°E and 50°N to 60°N. A virtual mosaic file (WSF2015_v1_EPSG4326.vrt) is also provided, enabling integrated global data visualization across mainstream GIS platforms including ArcGIS, QGIS, and MapInfo. In this dataset, human settlement pixels are assigned a value of 255, while non-settlement pixels have a value of 0.
