A new pollen part mutant 415-1 in Japanese pear

A new pollen part mutant 415-1 was developed by selective fertilization with self-compatible pollen from gamma-irradiated cultivar Kosui (S4S5) by pollinating the style of non-irradiated Kosui. The S-haplotype of 415-1 was presumed to be partially duplicated on chromosome 17 and the S genotype was determined as S4dS5S5, where d means duplicated. To determine the exact size of the duplicated regions and to clarify the mode of inheritance of the duplicated segment, genetic analyses including amplicon sequence of S-haplotypes, constructing a genetic map and depth-of-coverage analysis were conducted using a population derived from crossing between the mutant 415-1 and normal breeding line 515-20.
