VPRS 10274 Domestic Arts and Manual Training General Correspondence

The Education Department conducted specialised schools and training institutions for the domestic arts and manual training. Domestic Arts schools later became known as Girls' Schools and Girls' High Schools until most were changed into co-educational secondary schools during the 1970s and 1980s.The correspondence in this series relates to general matters with respect to these types of educational institutions and in particular to the Training Institution for teachers of these subjects and Domestic Arts Hostels provided for student accommodation. Subjects of correspondence are regarding the provision and nature of courses in schools, the appointment of teachers, applications for studentships at the Domestic Arts training Institution and surety agreements entered into by these students and correspondence regarding the provision of equipment and requisites.
