资源简介:
It is shown that vaccines, for instance BCG, can give long term improvement of the innate immune system. This study examined monocytes from neonates and adults ability to change and respond to stimuli and "remember" this over time. In votro assy which has been developed by a partner was used in this project to evaluate such responses. The responses was characterized by measuring which neurotransmitters monocytes excretes and described differences between neonates and adults. This provides knowledge which is useful for potentiating the effects of vaccines, evaluate optimal timeframe for vaccines and for treatment/prevention of serious infections among very young children. This dataset contains data of cytokine levels expressed as fold changes above unsimulated cultures for adherent mononuclear cells, which have been stimulated with BCG and other antigens to measure their capacity to respond better to secondary stimuli. The data is given for 15 neonates and 30 adults. For adults also age and gender is included.
