Weed Control in Riparian Areas Inside and Next to the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area

The aim of this project is to remove weeds and increase the ecological resilience and the integrity of riparian systems within areas infested by Yellow Crazy Ants. These riparian areas connect and flow from the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, through areas of infestation and drain to the Trinity Inlet of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park World Heritage Area. Ecological resilience is the capacity of an ecosystem to tolerate or recover from disturbance without collapsing. It is important to minimise or eliminate as many additional environmental stressors to increase the likelihood of ecological recovery from yellow crazy ant invasion and control.
