In response to the genome-wide knockout of Urhf2, RNA sequencing analysis revealed the downregulation and upregulation of a large set of genes in the hippocampus. These genes are known to play critical roles in synaptic transmission and synaptic plasticity, indicating their importance in neuronal communication and the ability of synapses to change and adapt. Consequently, targeting E3 ubiquitin ligases, such as UHRF2, could potentially modulate learning and memory processes at both the cellular and systemic levels.
