Losses Estimation of Switched Reluctance Motor

This paper advances the losses analysis for 550W, 4-phase, 8/6 poles Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM). In this respect, the motor model is simulated and analyzed based on three software: RMXprt, Maxwell2D, and Matlab/Simulink, where the motor model by Maxwell2D (which is finite element analysis software) is created basically by RMXprt ( which is analytical software), and some of the input data for building Matlab/Simulink motor model are taking from RMXprt and Maxwell2D. Because the rotor is a salient pole that causes losses in the motor when it’s runningwhich reduces the motor’s useful life so, very important to compute SRM losses quickly and accurately. The obtained results such as efficiency, core loss, copper loss, diode loss, transistor loss, and mechanical loss. Finally, for more accuracy, the simulation results like efficiency and total losses were compared in three software RMXprt, Maxwell2D, and Matlab/Simulink with an accepted error rate.
