Subscribers of NPS Swavalamban/ NPS Lite in India FY 2014-2023

In financial year 2023, there were nearly five million people subscribed under the NPS through the government's Swavalamban Yojana or NPS Lite scheme. Literally meaning self-dependent, the scheme was announced by the government of India in 2010 to encourage people from the unorganized sector to voluntarily save for their retirement. The government contributes a specific amount per year to each NPS–Swavalamban account holder under this scheme.
