资源简介:
Sediment flux data for paper "Substantial overestimation of terrestrial water storage loss in headwater basins on Earth’s Third Pole" in Geophysical Research Letters. For more information on these data, please contact: Jiangpeng Cui (cuijp@itpcas.ac.cn) or Dongfeng Li (dongfeng.li@pku.edu.cn).Sediment flux is calculated as below. The relationship between daily water levels/stages and river discharge is called “rating curves” (World Meteorological Organization, 1994), and the site-specific stage-discharge rating curves is calibrated with wide range for Chinese Monitoring stations, which is used to calculate the daily mean discharge. The suspended sediment is sampled once per day during low-flow periods (more frequent sub-daily samples during floods), and the suspended sediment concentration (SSC) values are determined using the conventional gravimetric/filtration approach, which is measured with the proportion of dry sand (filtration and drying) per unit volume of river water (kg m−3). There are no reported changes in the SSC measurement procedure over the investigation period (Li et al., 2021), and the product of the daily SSC (kg m−3) and the daily mean discharge (m3 s−1) is the daily sediment load (kg s−1). The gauging stations of suspended sediment are located at the basin outlets which follows the widely accepted standard for hydrological observation and can represent the actual sediment exports from the entire basin
