资源简介:
This dataset supports the replication of the research presented in the paper "From Garments to Grievances: The Dynamics of Urban Growth and Economic Shocks in Rapidly Industrializing Economies." It integrates data from several sources to investigate the relationship between urban growth, economic shocks, and social unrest in Bangladesh and potentially other comparable socio-economic contexts. The dataset incorporates conflict event data from the GDELT Realtime Event Database, which has undergone careful deduplication and cleaning. Information regarding factory locations is sourced from the Mapped in Bangladesh project, an initiative of the Center for Entrepreneurship Development at BRAC University. Data on food price shocks are provided by the World Food Programme (WFP) Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping (VAM). Population data are derived from the United Nations (UN), WorldPop, and the European Space Agency (ESA).
