IRIS has organized studies of the continental lithosphere using
portable arrays of seismic receivers. Several of these use
earthquakes as sources and several use explosive sources. Studies
include a reflection/refraction profile of the northern Brooks Range,
a study of discontinuities in structure beneath Mauna Loa, a transect
from western Ontario to Wyoming, a high frequency study at Pinyon Flats,
seven data sets on the Loma Prieta earthquake, an experiment in the
Ouachita, three studies from the Basin and Range province,
experiments in Hawaii (ALOHA) and Iceland, and many others.
The data from studies using synthetic sources is generally in IRIS
SEGY (Society of Exploration Geophysicists Y) format. Earthquake data
is in in tar files using AH traces and SEED (Standard for the Exchange
of Earthquake Data).
Availability of PASSCAL Data may be determined by visiting the
Temporary Network Data Status for Experiments Beginning in Years
