Genome-resolved metagenomics was performed from multiple thermal sites in Yunnan province and Tibet of China, to reveal the biodiversity and metabolisms of well-known and dark matters in these extreme environments. The metagenomic analyses are coupled with cultivation-based approaches, to focus on those ones with unexpected metabolisms or with potential biotechnological applications.
