Ice and tide masks for ICESat-2 ATL14/15 data products

This dataset includes ice masks and tidal flexure masks for the ICESat-2 ATL14/15 digital elevation model and height-change products. Their creation and use in generating the products is described in the ATL14/15 Algorithm Theoretical Basis Document (ATBD).Ice masks: AntarcticIceMask_2018.00_2024.75_240m_v3.tifGreenlandIceMask_2018.00_2025.0_100m_v3.tifTwo ice masks describe the time-varying extent of ice in Antarctica and Greenland. Pixels are marked as part of the ice sheet if their estimated ice thickness is greater than 10 m (for grounded ice) or if they are within the boundaries of ice shelves (for floating ice). Ice-shelf boundaries are updated on a roughly quarterly basis based primarily on Sentinel-1 satellite imagery. Please see the ATBD for details of the datasets used.The masks are provided as geotiffs, with one band for each time slice. The decimal year values for each time slice are contained in tags of bands in the the .tif files, and are additionally provided as text files (see the time_stamps.txt files).We expect to update the mask files each time a new version of ATL14/15 is produced (3-4 times per year).Tide mask:ATL11_0314_tide_adj_scale_200m.tifThis file describes the scaling applied to the CATS2008 tide model and the ICESat-2 product dynamic atmosphere correction to estimate the surface deflection over ice shelves. This scaling reflects the attenuation of tidal deflection caused by ice flexure in grounding zones, and was derived based on ICESat-2 observations over cycles 3-14 of the mission.
