'Data for: Hidden taxa, non-diagnostic markers and a tropical lineage: reference-based validation of public Beauveria bassiana sequences

This dataset contains the alignments, phylogenetic trees and curated tables for a reference-based validation of 943 GenBank records labeled Beauveria bassiana for five loci (Bloc, EF-1α, RPB1, RPB2 and β-tubulin). It includes single-locus haplotype alignments (FASTA) and maximum likelihood trees (Newick), with and without the reference strains of 11 Beauveria species and three Cordyceps outgroups. It also includes a concatenated four-locus alignment of 155 strains, 11 reference strains and 3 outgroups (2940 sites) with its partition file and trees. All trees were inferred in IQ-TREE 2.3.6 with SH-aLRT and ultrafast bootstrap support, and the IQ-TREE reports, haplotype-to-accession keys and curated record, strain and validation tables (Tables S1–S3) are included.
