资源简介:
File List Data_Rai_1981.txt (md5: 1fd581823de5686349fc417925149571) Description Data_Rai_1981.txt provide Rai's (1981) tree biomass database as used in the main paper. Data on morphological (tree dbh and height) and direct biomass measurements (i.e., dry mass of bole, branches, leaves, and twigs) are given for 189 trees (109 of seven overwood species and 80 of four underwood species) selectively harvested in Chakra wet evergreen forest (13°33' N, 74°55' E; Kilandur Reserve Forest, Shimoga district, Karnataka State, India). Column definitions ID = unique tree number Species = species latin names updated for synonyms based on Table S1 DBH = tree diameter at breast height (dbh) in cm H = total tree height in m SW = stem dry mass BBW = big branch dry mass SBW = small branch dry mass LTW = Leaves and twigs dry mass AGB = tree aboveground biomass in Kg, computed as the sum of all components. Species names in Rai's database were checked for synonyms from the herbarium database of the French Institute of Pondicherry (HIFP), resulting in a few updates as given in Table S1. Note that on the basis of expert botanical advice (Dr. B. R. Ramesh from HIFP), Syzigium utilis in Rai's database was replaced by Syzigium gardneri since S. utilis is very rare in Chakra forest type compared to S. gardneri (Pascal 1988). Tree dbh corresponds to the mean of two caliper measurements made at right angles to each other. Tree height measurements were made with a Haga gauge prior to felling. Stems and branches dry mass are computed from fresh volumes multiplied by a species-specific wood density (Table S2). Fresh volumes were obtained by summing the volumes of separate bole and main branch sections of 3-m length and using their mid-point girth. Wood densities of stems and branches were obtained from 5–8 cm thick discs cut from the middle of the bole and oven dried to constant weight at 85°C. Smaller branches were directly weighted in the field and a species-specific stem ratio of dry to fresh mass obtained from the discs was applied (Table S2). Leaves and current year’s twigs were weighted together in the field; a sub-sample was then used to determine their relative fresh and dry mass so as to compute a specific dry-to-fresh mass ratio (Tables S2). Total aboveground biomass (AGB) is simply the sum of the stem, branches, leaves, and twigs dry mass. -- TABLE: Please see in attached file. -- -- TABLE: Please see in attached file. --
