Greenland Environmental Metagenomes and Metatranscriptomes

18 Samples were taken from the Greenland Ice sheet to study Giant Virus genes and MAGs present with glacial algae. A single red snow sample and two samples of dark ice were collected from the GrIS, originating from the Bruckner and Heim glaciers, respectively. In 2020, a variety of environmental samples were collected from the GrIS, close to the QAS_U and QAS_M PROMICE Station including three mixed ice cores (1 m core that included snow and ice transition section and cryoconite layers), one cryoconite hole sediment, one dark ice, one dark ice sample only for viral fractionation concentration and one for the purpose of creating a draft genome of the Ancylonema ice algae, one green snow algae biofilm, one green snow, and two red snow samples.
