The repository provides all necessary information in terms of input data used, key modelling assumptions, results, visualizations and supporting tools related to the study titled "Assessing the role of Small Modular Reactors in Italy's energy transition in light of the Energy Trilemma: an integrated electricity-heat-hydrogen sectors analysis." This study assesses the potential contribution of small modular reactors (SMRs) to the Italian energy system using an energy system optimization model (ESOM) with a sector-coupling approach integrating electricity, heat, and hydrogen. SMRs are modelled as flexible cogeneration technologies coupled with thermal energy storage, enabling the joint supply of electricity and process heat. Four policy-driven scenarios are compared against a baseline scenario, consistent with the Italian National Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC) targets, and results are evaluated via a structured set of indicators aligned with the Energy Trilemma - the Decision Scoreboard. The following files are reported below: "Guide-to-Data-and-Supplementary.pdf" include the Supplementary Material, plus general information about the data and files gathered in this repository. "scenarios_input-results.zip" collects input parameters, settings, and results for each scenario. "merged_scenario-results.xlsx" gathers all scenario results together in a unique database. "Scoreboard.xlsx" is a handful tool to explore scenario outcomes by means of a structured set of indicators, the Decision Scoreboard. "Nuc-TES_analysis.xlsx" processes the outocmes for thermal storage operation coupled with SMRs to have a better interpretation of the results. "scenarios_comparison.pbix" gathers all results coming from "merged_scenario-results.xlsx" into a PowerBI report to enable an easy visualization.
