In this research, 18S rRNA gene-based metabarcode sequencing were performed to investigate plankton ciliate community in Chongming Island rivers. Our result showed that the river played host to a distinct seasonal distribution pattern among ciliate communities. On the whole, the ciliate community structure and assembly process were strongly influenced by hydrological conditions, and homogenizing dispersal dominated the ciliate community assembly process.
