Diameter and Distance between Saplings and Adult Trees at Osgoode Woodlot|森林生态学数据集|树木生长数据集

Experiment was conducted in Osgoode Woodlot at York University's Keele campus on September 23rd, 2015. A transect was placed from the edge of the woodlot towards the middle of it. Adult trees 3m or taller within 15m of the transect were surveyed, noting their canopy coverage and diameter at breast height (dbh) in mm. Nearby saplings of the same species were also surveyed, and both their distance from the "parent" tree and dbh were also recorded. The height of the trees was estimated by roughly comparing them with our height - anything at least 1.5x our height was sufficient. Canopy coverage was also estimated by making a square between our fingers and looking skywards. The dbh for each tree was measured using the transect tape, while being careful not to wrap the tape around the tree.
