资源简介:
The data are from research investigating the optimal conditions for rearing dragonfly larvae, specifically focusing on the species Sympetrum striolatum. This study explores the effects of temperature, oxygen levels, feeding frequency, habitat structure, and egg age on the hatchability, survival, and development of dragonfly larvae. Three independent experiments were conducted to assess these factors:Temperature and Oxygen Levels: Various temperature settings (24°C, 26°C, and 28°C) and the presence or absence of aeration were tested to determine their impact on egg hatchability and larval survival. Results indicated that higher temperatures negatively affected larval survival, while aeration did not significantly impact outcomes.Feeding Frequency and Habitat Structure: The study evaluated the effects of daily feeding versus feeding every other day, and the presence of artificial plants on larval growth and survival. Findings showed that daily feeding improved survival and growth rates, whereas the presence of artificial plants negatively impacted both hatchability and survival.Egg Age: The influence of egg age on hatchability and larval survival was analyzed, revealing that older eggs had reduced hatchability and survival rates. The research demonstrated significant variability in egg hatchability among different females, with some achieving nearly 90% hatchability while others had much lower rates. The findings underscore the importance of maintaining appropriate water temperatures (not exceeding 24°C), ensuring regular water changes to provide sufficient oxygen, and frequent feeding to support larval development. These results offer practical guidelines for rearing dragonfly larvae, contributing to conservation efforts and enhancing the understanding of their ecological requirements.
