In this study we sequenced the dengue virus genome from dengue virus particles extracted from Aedes albopictus mosquito cells C6/36 using illumina sequencing in order to detect possible recombination between mosquito and dengue genomes. Pior to sequencing, we added pillbug (Armadillidium vulgare) RNA to the dengue + mosquito RNA extract in order to assess the extent of artificial chimera formation. The sequenced library thus contains dengue virus RNA, mosquito RNA and pillbug RNA. The results show that many artificial chimeras were generated during the PCR step of the library preparation protocol (Nextera kit).
