The dataset is sourced from the National Bureau of Statistics and provincial statistical yearbooks. The carbon emission data were calculated using the standard methodology outlined in the energy section of the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories. It includes the following indicators for nine provinces and regions along the Silk Road Economic Belt from 2001 to 2023: carbon emissions, total population, per capita GDP, urbanization rate, carbon intensity, share of non-fossil energy, and proportion of secondary industry.
