CODC-S: a quality-controlled global ocean salinity profiles dataset

The CODC-S dataset (Chinese Academy of Sciences Oceanography Data Center – Salinity component) provides over 11 million quality-controlled in-situ ocean salinity profiles from 1940 to 2023. Data originate from the World Ocean Database and additional regional sources, and have been processed with the CODC-QC-S system comprising 11 automated checks (e.g., range, spike, extrema, climatology). Profiles span the surface to 2000 m at 79 standard levels and support research on ocean hydrology, climate, and biogeochemistry. The dataset is openly available from the Chinese Academy of Sciences Ocean Data Repository.
