This dataset contains data files used for the thesis titled "Developing productive peer talk in dialogic collaborative problem solving: A participatory visual learning analytical approach". <br> The thesis aims to improve the process and outcomes of dialogic collaborative problem solving by explicitly teaching students productive peer talk. It adopts a technology-enhanced participatory visual learning analytical approach to involving students in analyzing, visualizing, and reflecting on their group talk around some primary questions including "did we talk equally?", "did I persuade others?", "did I understand others?", "did I talk for the group?" and "did we make progress?". <br> This thesis further evaluates the usability of the designed tool iTalk–iSee and the efficacy of the intervention in improving collaborative discourse, participation equity, and group thinking. The dataset contains two SPSS files supporting the quantitative analysis. One file is about group level statistics including group reasoning scores, task scores at pre-test and post-test, and discourse features of pre-test and post-test tasks. The other file is about individual level statistics including individual reasoning scores, individual demographics, and relevant characteristics.
