资源简介:
Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. michiganensis (Cmm) is the causal agent of bacterial canker of tomato, a disease of economic importance in New York State and worldwide. This gram-positive bacterium primarily colonizes the tomato xylem, and at later stages of infection causes unilateral leaf wilting, plant death, and bird's-eye lesions on fruit. Previous studies have revealed genes encoding cell-wall degrading enzymes, serine proteases, and a tomatinase enzyme to play a role in disease induction, however, we still do not have a full understanding of the mechanisms of virulence of this pathogen. Increasing the number of genomic sequences available, as well as using high-throughput 'omics tools will allow us to further understand the biology of Cmm, which may lead to new management strategies for this disease.
