资源简介:
This record series consists of the monthly reports of the Medical Superintendent of Prince Henry's Hospital. The title was first used in the year 1937/38. Prior to that, the equivalent position was that of Chief Resident Medical Officer. The Medical Superintendent also provided an annual report section in the Prince Henry's Hospital Annual Report. The reporting provided much statistical information. The reports summarised in-patients and out-patients. It recorded deaths and the causes of those deaths. The number of major operations during the month were also tabulated. The Medical Superintendent reported on staffing, accidents, epidemics, hospital conditions, patient recordkeeping, military service and the effects of the War on staffing, the Pathology Department, the Almoner's Department, the Children's Ward, Casualty, Air Raid Precautions, the X-ray Department, various therapies, the Physiotherapy Department, tuberculosis patients, penicillin, coroner's cases, hospital zoning, bed allocation, Neurology Clinic, Library, and medical equipment. The minutes of a meeting of a sub-committee regarding the position of Medical Superintendent outline its responsibilities, the appointee's living conditions, and the limited tenure of the appointment. The meeting was held in September 1949 and is recorded in the record series Minutes of Sundry Committees (VPRS 19367), consignment 1, unit 1, folios 135-6.
