The Neurovascular Unit in Fetal Growth Restriction

This thesis examines the development of the neurovascular unit, a collection of cells and surrounding structures controlling blood flow within the brain. The neurovascular unit’s development is investigated in the healthy fetal brain, as well as in the brains of fetuses affected by fetal growth restriction. This thesis also explores endothelial progenitor cells as a potential stem cell therapy to enhance neurovascular unit development.
