Database on the taxonomic, phylogenetic, and functional diversity of trees in the urban ecosystem of Sucre, Bolivia
The datasets and figures include structural, functional, phylogenetic, and environmental information for tree communities sampled across the urban–rural ecosystem of Sucre, Bolivia. Figures Figure S1 – Phylogenetic relationships: Shows the evolutionary relationships among the tree species sampled in the urban ecosystem, including branch lengths (millions of years ago), species names, and their corresponding botanical families. Figure S2 – Functional dendrogram: Generated from the species–trait matrix using the Gower distance method (Pavoine & Bonsall, 2009) for both continuous and categorical data. UPGMA clustering was applied to group species based on functional traits. Figure S3 – Phylogenetic alpha diversity correlation: Illustrates the correlation among different metrics of phylogenetic alpha diversity for the sampled habitats. Tables Table S1 – Structural and environmental characterization: Lists type of habitat, quadrant, species, genus, diameter at breast height (cm), tree height (m), latitude, longitude, elevation (m a.s.l.), temperature (°C), and precipitation (mm) for each transect sampled in the urban ecosystem. Table S2 – Aboveground biomass (AGB) estimation: Includes habitat type, quadrant, corrected genus and species, APG family and order, wood density (WD), forest canopy height (Hfeld), individual tree biomass (AGBtree), standard deviation of WD (sdWD), standard error of canopy height (HfeldRSE), canopy tree mixture height (Hmix), standard error of mixture height (RSEmix), and total AGB (AGBsum) for each transect. Table S3 – Evolutionary divergence: Provides a list of species and their evolutionary divergence in millions of years, derived from GBOTB.extended.TPL.tre using V.PhyloMaker2. Table S4 – Functional traits matrix: Contains eight key functional traits for all species, including wood type, growth form, leaf type, fruit type, preferred habitat, root type, shade tolerance, and pollination type. Table S5 – AGB model estimations: Compares three approaches for estimating aboveground biomass across habitat types: Local model (wood density) Latin America model (wood density + averaged height-diameter) Adjusted model (wood density + height values and associated errors) Table S6 – AGB relationships (predictors vs. response): Analysis of AGB in relation to habitat, temperature, and precipitation. Table S7 – AGB relationships extended: Analysis of AGB in relation to habitat, temperature, precipitation, and altitude. Table S8 – GLM for taxonomic diversity (TD): Results assessing the impact of habitat type on TD, including pairwise Tukey post-hoc comparisons between habitat types. Table S9 – TD predictors: Relationship analysis of TD with habitat, temperature, precipitation, and altitude. Table S10 – GLM for phylogenetic diversity (PD): Results assessing the impact of habitat type on PD, including pairwise Tukey post-hoc comparisons. Table S11 – PD predictors: Relationship analysis of PD with habitat, temperature, precipitation, and altitude. Table S12 – Phylogenetic species richness (PSR) predictors: Analysis of PSR in relation to temperature, precipitation, and altitude. Table S13 – Phylogenetic evenness (PE) predictors: Analysis of PE in relation to temperature, precipitation, and altitude. Table S14 – Functional diversity (FD) predictors: Analysis of FD in relation to habitat, temperature, precipitation, and altitude. Table S15 – GLM for functional diversity (FD): Results assessing the impact of habitat type on FD, including pairwise Tukey post-hoc comparisons between habitat types. Table S16 – Species dominance: Summarizes the dominance of 31 species across all sampled habitats in the urban ecosystem.
