XMM-NEWTON OBSERVATIONS OF A NEW POPULATION OF RADIO QUASARS

We have recently discovered a new class of flatspectrum radio quasars (FSRQ)with synchrotron peak frequencies, nu_peak}, in the UV/Xray band, set apartfrom classical.. FSRQ, which typically have nu_peak in the optical/IR band. Wepropose to observe the eight FSRQ in the Deep Xray Radio Blazar Survey withestimated nu_peak greater than 10**15 Hz to study their Xray properties and pindown the emission process. The confirmation (or not) of the nature of FSRQ withhighenergy synchrotron peaks and the subsequent detailed study of theirproperties have important implications for our understanding of jet formationand synchrotron cooling and their relationship to accretion disk properties andaccretion rates in all radioloud AGN. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
