VPRS 17495 Midwifery Department Property Book

The Property Book recorded which person had signed out the patient's belongs at the time of their admission to the Midwifery Department. When each patient was admitted they were given a hospital gown and had to hand over their clothes and other belongings to whoever was designated to take them home. The function of the volume was to record that each midwifery patient's property had been accounted for by the admitting nurse.Each patient's details were recorded in a single page column format and the entries were arranged according to date of admission. The column headings comprise: Patient's Name; Date of Admission; Articles; Nurse's Name. The column Articles was amended with Clothes taken by or Clothes taken home and the person's signature. In a few instances more details of the person's belongings were provided.Th e p1 consignment of this series was transferred as a review consignment as this is the only record extant that provides information on patients admitted to the Midwifery Department for the period 1946 to 1947.
