The climate analysis maps show the climatic situation for the day as well as the night situation on a hot summer day in the canton of Zug. Thermal as well as dynamic conditions are shown in spatial resolution of 10 x 10 m. The data on the day situation show air temperature as well as the heat load. In addition to air temperature, the data on the night situation also show the overheating in the settlement area compared to the surrounding area. Areas with high temperatures become visible as heat islands. Cold air volume flows as well as wind direction and wind speed indicate where cold air has cooling effects at night. The starting point of the analysis is the division of the study area into bioclimatically and/or air-hygienic contaminated settlement areas (effect area) on the one hand and cold air producing, undeveloped and vegetation-influenced areas on the other hand (compensation areas). If these spaces are not directly adjacent to each other and the air exchange processes are strong enough, linearly oriented, slightly superstructured open spaces (airways) can connect both with each other. The demarcation of favorable and unfavorable spaces as well as the connecting structures thus results in a complex picture of the process system of air exchange flows of the compensation space-effect space structure within the cantonal area. Thus, the maps provide important information for settlement planning. The data are based on a comprehensive model simulation with the mesoscale climate model FITNAH 3D.
