In this work, Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) is employed for obtaining the first direct proof that citrated gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) adsorb preferentially along the boundaries of lipid rafts. Multicomponent Supported Lipid Bilayers (SLBs) were used as synthetic model membranes to mimic the nanometric rafts that are known to characterize the plasma membrane.
