资源简介:
The data contain results of numerical solutions of coupled transport equations for motile bacteria and a chemical compound, which they are able to detect and migrate toward (via a process known as chemotaxis). The analysis was performed to investigate the accumulation of chemotactic bacteria (P. putida) in the aqueous phase near the interface of an oil phase contaminant (toluene) under shear flow. The data was obtained by implementation of numerical methods using two commercial software packages Mathematica and MATLAB. The solutions obtained from MATLAB provide data plotted in the Figure 2(c). All other graphs are plotted using the data generated from Mathematica. The output from the algorithms was scaled concentrations of bacteria and contaminant as a function of a scaled location variable (that includes position and fluid velocity) evaluated at steady state. The effect of three dimensionless groups of relevant biophysical parameters on the bacterial distributions were explored in a parametric analysis. Realistic parameter values obtained from previous experimental studies were used in the analysis. This dataset supports the publication: Shim, S., Stone, H. A., & Ford, R. M. (2019).
