Muon spin relaxation and rotation study to investigate superconducting gap structure and time reversal symmetry state in LaIr2Ge2

Motivated by our recent finding of time reversal symmetry breaking as evidenced by our μSR investigation of s-wave BCS superconductors CaPd2Ge2, CaPd2As2, and SrPd2As2, we propose to carry out muon spin relaxation and rotation study on LaIr2Ge2. LaIr2Ge2 crystallizes in CaBe2Ge2-type primitive tetragonal structure and exhibits superconductivity. Our resistivity and heat capacity measurements reveal type-II superconductivity with a Tc of 1.43 K. It would be of interest to further investigate the superconducting properties of LaIr2Ge2 using muon spin relaxation and rotation (µSR) technique to find out the superconducting gap structure and the time reversal symmetry state. We therefore propose to carry out µSR study on LaIr2Ge2 using the MUSR spectrometer.
