Epidemiology of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Causing Bacterimia in Hiroshima, Japan 2008-2017

The prevalence of community-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA) strains has increased worldwide. However, epidemiological changes in epidemic MRSA clones in Japan are not well-characterized. In this study, the molecular epidemiological and clinical characteristics of patients with MRSA bacterimia in a Japanese tertiary care hospital were investigated. MRSA isolates causing bacterimia at Hiroshima University Hospital in 2008-2017 were analyzed by whole-genome sequencing.
