NRS-14664 | State ward "B" files (Local Office files) [District Offices, Department of Community Services]

Local Office "B" files were originally operational records created for the convenience of District Officers. They relate to children, and to young persons up to the age of eighteen years, admitted or committed to the care of the Minister to be dealt with as State wards, or committed to Departmental institutions. There are three categories of wards: Wards in institutions - the Minister holds guardianship (criminal offences). Institution inmates - parents retain guardianship (criminal offences). Wards of unfit parents, mental disabilities, etc. who have the Minister as guardian, but who have not committed a criminal offence. The "B" files contain information relating to Court orders, ward's date of birth, parents, siblings, etc.(12/10869-83, 18/1483-89, 12/10970-71, 12/5301-09, 18/1265-66). 35 boxes.
