Impervious layer distribution map of Hainan Island in 2018

With the rapid improvement of the economic level and the substantial increase of the population, the urban ecological environment has changed significantly with an accelerating expansion. As an important indicator in urban environmental research, impervious layers are of great significance to ecological environment changes and urban development. Based on the study on the spectral features of remote sensing imagery, this dataset analyzes the impervious layer extraction method. In combination of the improved Modified Normalized Difference Impervious Surface Index method and the Perpendicular Impervious Index method, and based on the impervious layer extracted by using Matlab, we obtained the impervious layer distribution map of Hainan Island. The dataset reflects the distribution of impervious layers of Hainan Island in 2018 and it can also serve as a research basis for the planning and decision making of the urban development in Hainan Island.
