Surface ice (LF) and the nearby exposed soil (ES) were collected for metagenomics analyses at the "Little Firn" glacier (81.566 N, 16.363 W) at the Villum Research Station in northern Greenland on 2 July 2018, including 16S rRNA gene amplicons and direct sequencing of the total community DNA, aiming to investigate both bacterial biodiversity and functional potentials of the whole bacterial communities.
