Shire engineers were appointed under Part IX of the Local Government (Shires) Act, 1905 (Act No. 33, 1905).This series consists of reports of the Dumaresq Shire Council’s Engineer to the President and councillors at the meetings of the council. The reports relate to road and bridge construction and maintenance, staffing, tenders, purchase of equipment and to applications for lease of the council’s properties. The reports were organised under sections for gangs, contracts, reports, tenders and other matters. They were issued monthly and are hand-written until1914 when they became typescript.
