Isolate collected in Iran Fungal isolation and DNA extraction at the ETH Zurich, Switzerland in the group of Prof. Bruce A. McDonald. The fungal isolate is a pathogen of grasses. It is the closest known relative of the wheat pathogen Mycosphaerella graminicola. The genome provides an important resource to compare evolutionary changes of a pathogen infecting wild grasses to one infecting an agricultural crop.
