We propose to study the pulsar emission mechanism using novel statistical methods that enable us to study the dynamics of the radio pulsar signal on short time scales (e.g. quasi-periodic sub-pulse structure, transitions between orthogonally polarized modes of emission, nulling, etc.) without needing to detect individual pulses. This pilot study will pave the way for a large-scale survey of dynamic/transient emission properties over a broad range of the pulsar population.
