The Documentation of Kol Language in Bangladesh

This thesis provides a comprehensive description of the phonology, morphology, and syntax of Kol. Kol is an endangered language belonging to the Munda (Austro-Asiatic) language family in Bangladesh, and it shares significant similarities with other Munda languages spoken in India. Moreover, this study offers support to Kol speakers through a detailed grammatical analysis with numerous glossed examples, including the semantic domain specific lexicon-list and descriptions of narratives. This study also aims to fill gaps in comparative analyses of Austro-Asiatic languages in South Asia through investigating the linguistic characteristics of Kol and its borrowings from dominant languages.
