This series consists of correspondence received by the Shire of Creswick from the Ballarat Benevolent Asylum, essentially seeking financial donations. The record was, in all likelihood, originally bound but the contents were eventually detached and placed in a manila folder.Documentation identifies people from the Ballarat region who had been admitted to the asylum, including a listing of everyone admitted between 1 January - 26 August 1873 and a list of out-door recipients as of 25 April 1907.This series was transferred to PROV by the university of Melbourne Archives which had originally received the records as part of the E.J. Semmens Collection.
