The PSCM has constructed a compact and portable cryogenic nano-positioning scanning stage and a cryogenic in-vacuum sample changer in collaboration with our partner from the Institut für Röntgenphysik in Göttingen. The chamber was installed and the nano-positioning tested on ID13 while the cryogenic in-vacuum sample changer was commissioned successfully on ID02. We propose now to install the full system on ID13 to validate simultaneously all its functionalities. Particular attention will be devoted to assessing residual nano-scale sample drifts after cool-down and sample exchange. We will then perform experiments on plunge-frozen cardiomyocytes with the objective to reveal, for the first time, variations of the inter-sarcomere protein organisation via X-ray diffraction. This beam-time will define a standard range of operating parameters, yield first scientific results, and thus allow the PSCM to make the setup available for the general user community.
